Meet Dr. Ghalib Wahidi
Dr. Ghalib Wahidi is a board certified physician with passion for longevity, holistic medicine, regenerative health and the maintenance of youth and vitality. Dr. Wahidi began his career in healthcare by studying neurobiology at the University of California in Davis, followed by obtaining Masters of Science in Physiology at Finch University of Health Science in Chicago. As a medical student at Rosalind Franklin University in Chicago, Dr. Wahidi’s interests included acute medicine, obesity and diabetes. He was awarded a research fellowship studying orthostatic hypotension and autonomic dysregulation-a complication of longer term diabetes.
After graduating from medical school, Dr. Wahidi furthered his training in internal medicine at University of California Irvine Medical Center. Post residency, Dr. Wahidi pursued a career in the fields Hospitalist Medicine as well as Emergency Medicine where he exclusively cared for the sick and the acutely ill patients.
While practicing in the above environments, Dr. Wahidi noted some of the common conditions and diseases that were dilapidating our society, mainly obesity, diabetes, heart disease etc that affected both the young and the old. After taking care of a 41 year man with blood sugar of over 1500, Dr. Wahidi recalls, I specifically remember thinking, there has to be a better way of taking care of these patients. There has to be a way where patients take care of themselves and not having to suffering strokes and heart attacks in their 40s. Sometimes, the treatment made patients sicker than the illness itself.
These out of the box types of thinking propelled Dr. Wahidi to look into other ways of taking care of his patients. After coincidentally stepping into an outpatient clinic full of very healthy patients, who lived happy and productive lives well into their 70s and 80s, Dr. Wahidi knew that regenerative medicine was his true calling. Soon after, Dr. Wahidi launched the Golden Coast Clinic whose main focus is Regenerative Health, Men’s Health, Weight loss and other conditions mainly emanating from Obesity and weight gain. The hope and goal of everyone in the clinic is to prevent patients from getting chronically ill and if they already have chronic illnesses, to reverse the disease’s projection. We emphasize and promote regular exercise, eating clean and healthy, adequate sleep and strong social support.
Dr. Wahidi is an active fellow of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and is an active member of the of the American College of Physicians.
In his spare time, Dr. Wahidi believes in leading by example. He hopes to stop using the phrase, “do as I say, not as I do” soon. Therefore, Dr. Wahidi goes to the gym regularly, eats healthy and spends time with family and friends. Dr. Wahidi enjoys the heavenly beauty of the outdoors, especially the snow and hopes to catch a fish or two one of these days-even if a small ones.
